The 10th London Bicycle Film Festival is about to open, showcasing a plethora of cycling films.
The tenth annual Bicycle Film Festival will be held at the Barbican in London on October 3rd. The four-day festival will showcase a range of the best bicycle films.
"Bicycle culture, as a sport and a lifestyle, is gaining popularity, providing almost novel inspiration for film. Perhaps it's the simplicity of it, or the relaxed feeling cycling brings to your life, but bicycles continue to appear on screen in their own way. The purpose of the Bicycle Film Festival is to promote cycling and its art." London Film Festival organizer Laura Fletcher said.
The film festival was first held in New York in 2001 and has now grown into an event held in multiple cities, including Florence, this year's World Championship venue.
"I've been to the Australian Bicycle Film Festival several times, it's quite amazing, attracting many unique cyclists." Garmin_Sharp's Nathan Haas told reporters.
“Excellent! It acts as a powerful medium connecting a group of cyclists, effectively blending the passion of sport with the enthusiasm for art. Personally, I'd love to see more events that combine cycling and art. I also hope to have the opportunity to attend in London this year, if I can take a break from the race.”
The festival will showcase over 40 shortlisted works, including Moonride, which realistically portrays the lonely life of a young championship cyclist. There's also Baisikeli, which depicts the story of a Kenyan cycling team hoping to achieve the same success as their running brothers, becoming professionals in this sport.
The festival will also showcase photographic works by photographer Kristof Ramon from this year's competition.
